the product we supply:

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose

The English abbreviation of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is HPMC, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, which is a non-ionic cellulose ether with a molecular formula of C56H108O30. CAS 9004-65-3, odorless, tasteless, white powder.
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) absorbs moisture after drying but is stable. The solution is stable at pH 3-11. As the temperature increases, the viscosity of the solution decreases. Heating-cooling can reversibly transform HPMC from a solution state to a gel state. According to different grades and concentrations, the gel temperature is 50~90℃. HPMC water solution has anti-enzyme effect and maintains good viscosity stability during long-term storage. However, its aqueous solution is susceptible to microbial attack, so preservatives should be added during storage. When HPMC is used as a thickening agent in eye drops, benzalkonium chloride is usually added as a preservative.

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is made from mature polymer cellulose through a series of chemical processing. It is used in various applications in the construction, food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries. Depending on the application, it can be used as a thickener, adhesive, film-forming agent, water-retaining agent, suspending agent and lubricant.
(1) Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is easy to dissolve in cold water, and it will be difficult to dissolve in hot water. But its gelation temperature in hot water is significantly higher than that of methyl cellulose. The dissolution in cold water is also greatly improved compared to methyl cellulose.
(2) The viscosity of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is related to its molecular weight. The higher the molecular weight, the higher the viscosity. Temperature also affects its viscosity, as the temperature increases, the viscosity decreases. But its high viscosity has a lower temperature effect than methyl cellulose. The solution is stable when stored at room temperature.
(3) The water retention of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose depends on its addition amount, viscosity, etc. The water retention rate under the same addition amount is higher than that of methyl cellulose.
(4) Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is stable to acid and alkali, and its aqueous solution is very stable in the range of pH=2~12. Caustic soda and lime water do not have much effect on its performance, but alkali can accelerate its dissolution rate and increase viscosity. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is stable to general salts, but when the concentration of the salt solution is high, the viscosity of the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose solution tends to increase.
(5) Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose can be mixed with water-soluble polymer compounds to form a uniform and higher viscosity solution. Such as polyvinyl alcohol, starch ether, vegetable glue and so on.
(6) Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose has better enzyme resistance than methyl cellulose, and the possibility of enzymatic degradation in solution is lower than that of methyl cellulose. The adhesion of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose to mortar construction is higher than that of methyl cellulose.

The uses and applications of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose include: adhesives, emulsion stabilizers, film-forming agents, viscosity control agents in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals; thickeners in paint removers; protective colloids and viscosity stabilizers in latex paint; suspensions Lubricants; plasticizers in ceramics and refractory shapes; tablet excipients, binders, coating aids; thickeners, gelling agents, stabilizers, emulsifiers, film-forming agents in foods, Protective colloids, suspending agents; food packaging adhesives, food contact coatings, asphalt emulsions, caulking agents, cement
Functions of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose: emulsifier, stabilizer, lubricant
hydroxypropyl methylcellulose industry: cosmetics, refractory materials, medicine, adhesives
