Leveraging the medical, educational, and research resources of Peking University School of Medicine and the comprehensive financial advantages of Ping An Group, the group has built an industrial ecosystem centered on Peking University International Hospital (a non-profit tertiary general hospital), covering four major sectors: comprehensive medical care, health management, rehabilitation medicine, and internet healthcare. This ecosystem is deeply integrated with health insurance, smart healthcare, the elderly care industry, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Peking University International Hospital is the eighth clinical medical college of Peking University, with a total building area of 440,000 square meters, 1,800 approved beds, and over 60 clinical and medical technology departments. As of the end of 2025, the group's medical service network covers 6 provinces/municipalities across China, with 5 tertiary hospitals, 1 tertiary rehabilitation hospital, and 12 health management centers, totaling nearly 6,000 beds and handling over 3.6 million outpatient visits annually.

In August 2025, the Peking University Medical International Telemedicine Center was established to promote the deep integration of medical care, insurance, and digital services. Our hospital's retinitis pigmentosa (RP) treatment project is the culmination of over 40 years of dedicated research and surgical practice by our medical team, combining the essence of contemporary European medicine and traditional Chinese ophthalmology for individualized treatment.

The theoretical basis for this innovative treatment approach is the "starvation theory" of RP. Research has confirmed that all RP patients exhibit varying degrees of choroidal microcirculation disorders. We improve choroidal blood supply and increase choroidal blood flow through surgery, medication, traditional Chinese medicine, and local treatments, thereby rescuing ischemic and malnourished photoreceptor cells and restoring their function.

This project not only has scientific research value but also boasts clinical efficacy validated in nearly 7,000 cases, bringing new hope to a large number of RP patients.
